What is Depression?
The Dictionary says: "Severe despondency and dejection, accompanied by feelings of hopelessness and inadequacy." But we need to add a couple more things to the list: the aches traveling throughout your body and mind. The lack of sleep or sleeping too much. The feelings of helplessness, despair, anger, self-sabotage followed by disappointment…
Depression doesn't discriminate. It doesn't care about age, sex, race or lifestyle. When it rains it pours, and all the things that we need to get over it, like: have energy, positive thinking, time and self belief, are all things the depression has taken away from us. In this video, I'm sharing tips that helped me get over depression.
When I came to America, I came with my life's savings. I put everything into building a life here, worked as I hard as I could, and for a while, I got to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
After I left my husband (for reasons of alcoholism, verbal and mental abuse, and more), I started going through the downfalls of divorce. Guilt, loneliness, fear, sadness, disappointment. Shortly after that, while in the process of divorce, the backlash of some of his poor choices finally caught up with him. More so, they impacted my life as well, as I was still legally his wife.
I had to bankrupt everything I ever had. All my savings were gone overnight. I had nothing.
Then, I found myself in the predicament of going through divorce AND bankruptcy, in the same time. Factor in some friends without loyalty, the 2008 economy and the hardship of finding work… Add the car getting repossessed, the cell phone and electricity cut off, keeping whatever food you had in the fridge now in a cooler, a sick mother 8,000 miles away, and you have a recipe for depression.
Sure I've made plenty of mistakes and I was by no means a total victim in this situation. So I had guilt and regret as well. I was so upset with myself, disappointed, depressed and lonely, I had thoughts no one should ever think.
If you follow with discipline these tips I'm sharing here with you for free, you will be able to build self confidence once again, get over depression without medication, survive the hopelessness, and move beyond it. I don't think these tips work, I KNOW THEY WORK! Because I know what's it like to be depressed, get up and start fighting, and ultimately find that light at the end of the tunnel that many times seemed like nothing but a myth.
